POLICIES
A quick look at our daycare guidelines – detailed policies are shared with families after enrollment
Immunizations
We follow New York State Public Health requirements to ensure the safety and well-being of every child in our care. A completed and up-to-date immunization record from your child’s physician is required before enrollment. Full details about immunization guidelines and required documentation are provided to families during the enrollment process.
Personal Belongings
We want every child to feel comfortable and at home during the day. Children are welcome to bring a small comfort item or a book to share with friends. To help us keep track of everyone’s things, we kindly ask that all personal items be clearly labeled with your child’s name. A full list of recommended items will be provided to families upon enrollment.
.
Naps
We provide a calm and peaceful environment for rest time, helping children relax and recharge for the rest of their day. Infants always sleep on their backs in safe, cozy sleep sacks (no blankets or pillows) following recommended safe sleep guidelines. For toddlers and older children, parents are asked to provide a labeled sleeping bag for nap time to ensure comfort and consistency. If your child has a specific sleep plan recommended by a healthcare provider, we are happy to follow it with proper documentation.
Supplies
We want your child to feel comfortable and cared for throughout the day. Families receive a checklist of personal items (such as extra clothes, outdoor gear, and any special comfort items) to bring and leave at daycare. We’ll help guide you through everything you need before your child’s first day, and we’ll notify you whenever supplies need to be replenished
Meals
In our community, mealtime is a calm and respectful part of the day that encourages independence and healthy habits. We kindly ask parents to pack simple, nutritious, nut-free snacks and lunches to ensure a safe environment for all children. Detailed meal guidelines are provided to families upon enrollment.
Health and Illness
We follow strict health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for all children. Detailed health policies are provided to families upon enrollment
Emergencies
Your child’s safety is always our top priority. We have clear emergency procedures for situations such as illness, fire, or evacuation, and we conduct regular safety drills to ensure children know what to do. Families will be contacted immediately if an emergency occurs. Full details of our emergency policies are shared with parents upon enrollment.
Discipline policy
At Little Bees, we believe every child thrives in a caring and respectful environment where they feel safe to learn and grow. Instead of punishment, we guide children toward positive behavior through understanding, clear boundaries, and natural consequences. Our approach includes gentle redirection, offering choices, and encouraging problem-solving skills. If challenging behavior arises, we work closely with families to support the child’s social and emotional development.
Visitor Policy
Visitors and parents are always welcome at Little Bees. For the safety and comfort of the children, we kindly ask that you notify us in advance before visiting. All visitors must sign in upon arrival and follow classroom guidelines to minimize disruptions during learning and rest times.
Birthdays
Birthdays are a very special time at Little Bees, and we make sure each child feels celebrated on their big day! Parents are welcome to provide decorations to help make the classroom festive, and many families choose to order pizza and cupcakes for the group. We focus on making the day all about your child—filled with joy, friendship, and happy memories that they will treasure.
Communication
We believe that open and respectful communication between parents and teachers is essential to a child’s success. Each day, we provide a detailed daily report including your child’s meals, naps, potty, activities, books read, and a special highlight of their day. Photos and videos are shared throughout the day, giving you a window into your child’s experiences. We’re always happy to chat during drop-off or pick-up, and parent-teacher conferences can be scheduled anytime to discuss your child’s progress and development.
Child Abuse Laws/Mandated Reporters
Under New York State Law, all teachers are mandated reporters, and are legally required to report any suspected case of child abuse or neglect.
